Longwood

We enjoyed our third year at this home for a winter/ski getaway.

This property was perfect for our annual friends reunion. Close proximity to entrance of the territory made getting into Galena easy. The home was so clean and spacious, plenty of room for all of us to gather and visit. The beds were very comfortable and the hot tub was a nice bonus. Parking has always been an issue for us when renting but this location offered ample parking for all of our cars. We can’t wait to come back!

We stayed here for a guys golf weekend. The property was very accommodating, as there were plenty of spots to sleep. The house was also extremely clean. Would definitely stay here again.

Great house, lots of room for all! We did do a couple meals there. For a house holding so many guests I wish there were larger pots and pans. It was annoying to cook for so many with what was there. That is my only complaint. Otherwise was very clean and again loved all the room! I would definitely stay again.

The home was beautiful and had so much space for our family of 11! The open floor plan kitchen/ living room was great for making meals together! The yard was large enough for us to play cornhole and set up badmitten. We enjoyed the hot tub, pool table, arcade game, fires and playing game sun the screened in!! Not to mention the pools, and game room at the owners club!!

Family retreat of 10 with enough bathroom space and bedrooms for all, the hot tub was great. 5 kids loved pool table and arcade games and adults too. The house was inviting, clean, spacious with glass windows and even skylight in bathrooms. We all loved the fire pit and plentiful wood pile to roast s’mores. The second story screened porch was a nature lovers dream to sit and listen to all the wonderful songbirds. Living space was very adequate and allowed room for various needs and activities. Beds were quality mattresses and bedding for sleeping.
Linda, Galena homes manager was immediately available to answer any problems. She provided a new 4 digit code to enter house upon our arrival.
The code that was previously given was incorrect. She answered questions we had that took care of any minor concerns. Only thing lacking was matches or a lighter to start a fire plus paper or kindling wood which we were able to get ourselves at a local store and sticks from woods behind house. No problems or complaints overall and we all would come back here again

We had a group of 11 ladies and everyone was pleased with all the space, bedrooms, and amenities. Very clean and great location! Would highly recommend.

The home on Longwood Drive accommodated our family of 10 well to be able to have some time together, as we live in 2 states. We really enjoyed the outdoor space with the hot tub and fire pit to make smores and the Owner's Club for swimming, basketball and fitness center. A house this large is difficult to keep cool in Summer and warm in Winter. We needed to turn off the AC as it made the basement bedrooms too cold. Luckily the weather was wonderful and it cooled off at night too. Perhaps a couple of space heaters in the basement bedrooms. The couple of questions we had were promptly responded too.

Our family was attending a wedding at eagle ridge resort. This rental was a perfect location.

This home worked ok for our company since we had five couples and five bedrooms with separated bathrooms. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the home and the amount of linens/towels provided. Mattresses and pillows were of good quality. Except downstairs Queen size Serta sofa sleeper which mattress was terribly misshapen and couldn't be used. House has very spacious bedrooms, however the main living room doesn't have enough space for the larger group congregation (only 6 people can fit freely on 2 couches). Fireplace worked nicely. Kitchen had lots of cooking utensils, however it lacked some important dishes (only 7 coffee mugs and 10 forks which weren't sufficient for the 12 of us). Dining room included only 9 chairs. There was some wear and tear evident in some places, especially the dining room area. . Hot tub was clean, however it wasn't properly filled up prior to our arrival-water lever was way below jets and water was spraying all over us. There was no connecting water hose to fill up the tub.

We had such a great time at Longwood. The snow came down and we snuggled in for the weekend by the fireplace. The house was perfect for our group of 7, with room to spare. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub while it snowed. A very clean and nicely decorated home. Would return again!

We have rented this house several times, approximately 10 times and we love it.

We had a wonderful time at the Longwood house. Plenty of room for all playing cards, board games, and enjoying the hot tub! We already made plans for next year.

We had a great stay in this home & are already talking about booking our next trip here! Loved the location & amenities & layout of the property. It allowed us to spread out when needed but also big enough for 12 of us to gather together as well! We did have to reach out to the property manager & that was a smooth process too! Would definitely recommend this area, this house & VRBO to friends & family!

My family loved staying here! We had my parents, adult siblings and our children all stay here, and we loved how we each had our own space and bathrooms. The large open common spaces were perfect for gathering and meals. The outdoor spaces were perfect for lots of family fun too. I would definitely recommend this place to friends! The property manager was very pleasant to work with as well.

Our family visits the Territory often and likes to try new places but this is one home we would return to repeatedly. It has great open space yet plenty of beds and baths for each of our daughter’s families. The two step entry and main floor master was perfect for a walker dependent parent. Things were in good repair but we know from previous stays that Great Escapes is always very responsive when we asked for something.

Galena was an amazing town to stay at and the property we rented was beautiful. We very much enjoyed the amenities there was offered and we had an amazing g time. Would come back anytime!

We had a family wedding in Galena and had a number of guests 10 stay here. The accommodations of everyone who had a bedroom also had a bathroom was perfect! Didn’t get to use the outside fire pit due to time constraints of the wedding but the Hot Tub did get used what a wonderful amenity to this rental. Oh and also the pool table and arcade machine put plenty of us in some down time competitions!
CLEAN..WELL ORGANIZED..IF THERE ARE TWO DOWNFALLS THESE ARE THEM. STREET LIGHTING IS BASICALLY NON-EXISISTENT DUE TO THEIR COVENANTS SO FINDING YOUR WAY HOME AT NIGHT WITHOUT SOME SORT OF GPS IS A CHALLENGE THE FIRST FEW TIMES. THE SECOND IS THERE WASN'T AT LEAST AT OUR HOME A GOOD DIRECTIONAL MAP ON HOW TO DISPOSE OF EXCESS GARBAGE. AFTER DRIVING THROUGH THE MANY STREETS AND FINALLY FINDING A BUILDING WHO WE COULD STOP AND ASK(HR and Maintenance). We were given a map with a highlighted route to get there. Other than those two minor hiccups the property and stay is well worth the look if you need five bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths with couches and floor space to spare! Great experience!

This home worked very well for our family since we had five couples and five bedrooms. We had space for us to gather in small groups as well as enough space for the larger group. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the home, and with the ease of talking to the people representing Vacation Homes of Galena. We were also happy with our ability to prepare meals because of the well stocked kitchen. A couple more bowls could have been helpful. There was some wear and tear evident in some places, but overall we were very happy with selection of this property.

We rented this house for my parents’ 40th anniversary, and the weekend could not have gone better! We were able to relax easily whether inside or on the deck overlooking a serene distant view across the Galena treeline. I recommend this house to any family or group with 10-12 people!

This place was just what we needed during this crazy time. The house is starting to show it's age and the fact that it is a rental house. The walls had marks and holes, but it is what I would except from a rental home.

We had a great time at a great home. Plenty to do in the area. Linda was more than helpful everytime we had questions. Prompt replies with every message. We honestly couldnt have asked for better.

I stayed with my family of 12 at this home! It was a great size! We range from ages 4months-50 years old. There was something for all ages! The home was very spacious and the rooms were a great size!

A great home for a large family gathering. The kids loved the pool at resort and hot tub and game room in the basement. Although the home was clean on the surface, there were many spider webs in the window and dust and dead bugs under furniture. It didn’t interrupt our stay, it could just use a deep cleaning. I would advise against allowing babies and toddlers upstairs as the spindles appear to be wider apart than regulation. I caught my son early in the trip trying and almost successfully slipping through. Overall I would recommend this home and vacation rentals of Galena.

Our second year at this house for our family Christmas. House has an open layout so we can cook, play games and so on and still be all together! Lovie it!

The house is beautiful. Everything is supplied which is wonderful with no need to shop for supplies. The girls enjoyed the hot tub.
The setting of the house made it feel secluded.
I would recommend.
The furniture is a little worn. Also a none slip bottom should be applied to bathtub upstairs

Ten of us had a great week enjoying Galena. The house was adequate for our size group and the management staff was very attentive when we found there was not enough silverware. The bedrooms were spacious. We did need towel bars in some of them as we had to hang towels on a screw . We were told the couch had a loose arm and was going to be replaced. When you sat on that end of the couch, you sank to the wooden frame. One of the chairs was threadbare on the arm and the carpet in the family room area had spots and stains. One of the toilets in the downstairs leaked and it was very damp downstairs. Our towels and washcloths were all still wet when we checked in, but perhaps that was a housekeeping error. The beds were comfy but the master sank to the middle. The carpet downstairs looked new and we appreciated that. The kitchen is not stocked with any spices and there is no ice maker. We enjoyed having a Keurig and another coffee pot as well. The outside lamplight is tilting and the entrance steps need repainting. The house, however, was very clean. Overall, it needs some attention, but we still had fun, enjoyed the view, the table for ten, etc.

Everything in this home was in order. Pretty much everything you would need. Good location not too far from entrance to the Galena Territory. Definitely worth it.

This home works out perfect for us.....5 gentlemen/ college room mates in our annual retreat. This was our 5th time at this house. It was nice to see a brand new dishwasher and refrigerator, plus many new dishes, a video game counsel in the basement and a couple of pieces of new furniture. The management company was very responsive and friendly.

Had a few issues, but they were taken care of quickly and to our satisfaction. Had a great vacation with the family and will use VRBO again.

This was a great place to stay for our large group. Nice quiet neighborhood and very relaxing. We loved having a hot tub available.

Eleven family members gathered for Grandpa's and Dad's 80th birthday celebration. With no reservations, I can say we had a fabulous weekend at our "home" on Longwood Drive! The house is beautiful and the pictures accurately show what one can expect. Everyone had their own private space when needed but the common areas were the ones most utilized. We loved the screened porch and had many laughs when playing games. The younger people especially enjoyed the gaming and pool tables.

Everyone was sad to leave and all said we should do it again in the future. Truly, we had the best time!

Very nice and clean home. It was great for our extended family, due to each of the 5 bedrooms having their own bathrooms. Some minor wear and tear in the furniture, but overall a great experience.

Perfect weekend. Third time staying at this house. The new carpet is beautiful. Loved the plush new towels too! The kitchen is extremely well stocked! Spent lots of time on the screen porch playing board games and visiting. Love this house! We will be back!!!

This was the perfect spot for our family get away! Kids loved the pac man game. Didn't get to use hottub, but it looked inviting.

Have found a new winter experience at Chestnut Mountain in Galena, Il. We have a timeshare with Wyndham but could not find any condos available for our ski trip. Search went out to local rental properties which lead us to the Longwood property. We were thrilled to find a five bedroom five bath house in close proximity to Chestnut Mountain. The price was very affordable and everyone in our party was quite comfortably accommodated.

Plenty of space. Very convenient to have a bathroom for each bedroom. Comfortable and clean. Nice basement area for kids to hangout.

We rented this home for News Years and it was a great experience. Close to Chestnut for Skiing and Galena for shopping. We went to the club house for a day, but it was crowded in the pool and the gym so we went back to the house and had cupcake wars with the kids. Very spacious house and the hot tub is an added bonus!

Loved the house, fit our family so well that our family requested this home for next year's Christmas! Love the open concept!

We enjoyed our time at 59 Longwood very much. We found it to be a beautiful, restful location with all of the amenities we needed for our holiday stay. A single complaint is that the mattress in the large downstairs bedroom needs to be replaced. By the time the couple staying there mentioned it to me, it was too late for me to work with management for a replacement.

We were attending a family wedding at the resort and stayed at this home in preparation. We had previously stayed here for a engagement weekend at Chestnut Mountain, so it has become our place!

BEAUTIFUL home! Everyone (7 adults, 4 children (3 & under) had a wonderful time! So glad we chose this home within minutes of our own homes to save on the 2-3 hour car ride with the little ones. Home was spacious, beautiful, and everyone having their own bathroom a huge plus!!! So glad I checked out the Territory for this year's family vacation (our grown children's Christmas present)!! The pool table was a plus as well as using the GTA amenities. It rained all weekend, so we were unable to sit in the hot tub outside, but that didn't damper our spirits. I would recommend a closet with toys as none of us brought any (didn't want to forget any). Luckily, the kids had a blast just running through the different levels and playing hide & seek!

Very happy with the home. Only negative was the the bed in the lower level on the right side. That happened to be the bedroom I got and it was impossible to sleep - the mattress was bad. It really needs to be replaced.

Our stay was great. The bedrooms were huge. It had a nice sized deck that we had to share with raccoons. The house location was a short drive from the main entrance which was great. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment to make a great meal. The views from the home was beautiful.

Quiet place , very little traffic, Each bedroom has its own bath, which is very nice. Nice mattresses on the beds. Nice big closet attached to master bedroom where we could store our coolers/boxes we used to pack. Kitchen was well supplied. screened in porch has a nice patio table. Grill worked good. Easy to locate.

The time together as family in this beautiful 5 bedroom home was a delight! The space and the amenities (hot tub, screened porch, kitchen, indoor dining area) made out time together a wonderful experience for all ages (13 - 81). We look forward to doing this again!

House was very nice! Lots of space, rooms, nice kitchen, great location. Hot tub was nice, pool table was fun, Im actually coming back next spring for another gathering!

This was our second year spending time at this house. We LOVE it! The kitchen is large enough for all of us to be in there cooking. We had morning coffee in the hot tub, spent time on the deck, ate meals on the screen porch, played dice and games at the large dining room table. We took advantage of the outdoor pool this time and it was awesome. The house is just perfect for our needs. We have already booked it for next year and we can't wait!

The house was very clean and the kitchen was very open and easy to use. There is also a nice, 2-mile loop for runners/walkersjust follow Longwood around to Eagle Ridge and head up the hill back to the property. Thanks for a great vacation!
