Thunder Bay Chalet is a warm and inviting 3,500 square foot authentic log home that blends rustic charm with cozy luxury. Designed for comfort and togetherness, the home features five thoughtfully appointed bedrooms and four and a half baths. On the main level, a queen bedroom with a private en-suite bath offers easy, peaceful living. Upstairs, two additional queen bedrooms each include their own bathrooms, creating private retreats tucked beneath timber beams. The lower level is perfectly suited for families and groups, with two bedrooms that share a bath. One features two sets of bunk beds, while the other offers two single beds, creating a relaxed, lodge-style space ideal for kids or solo travelers. The kitchen is uniquely designed and functional, without traditional countertops or prep space, so we recommend bringing prepared meals or arranging catering to fully enjoy your stay. Please note, the kitchen does not include a dishwasher. At the heart of the home, the living room invites you to slow down and savor the moment. Gather around the crackling fireplace, play a tune on the piano (please handle with care) or simply take in the sweeping views of the beautiful, wooded grounds. Downstairs, you will find even more room to unwind, whether you are relaxing by the fire, watching TV, or stepping outside to enjoy evenings around the fire pit under the stars. For those mixing work with getaway, an upstairs workspace with a desk/table, and monitor offers a quiet and comfortable place to stay connected, all while surrounded by the warmth and character of this true log retreat.
Enjoy access to the Galena Territory Owners Club during your stay. The indoor pool is open year-round, while the outdoor pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. This exclusive amenity is available only to Galena Territory property owners and their guests and features an indoor pool, outdoor pool with slides, kiddie pool, fitness room, game room, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, and a seasonal snack bar. Be sure to also explore Lake Galena, the Shenandoah Riding Center, and miles of scenic hiking trails across the 6,800-acre community.
Please note: You may not receive enough amenity cards for your entire group. Additional guest passes can be purchased for $5 per day at the Galena Territory Administration Office or pool entrance. While staying with us grants you access eligibility, amenity use is not guaranteed and may require a fee. Amenities may close without notice, and we do not offer discounts or refunds due to closures.
Payment terms: A 30% payment is required at the time of booking (this is a payment, not a security deposit). The remaining balance is due 14 days prior to check-in. If you cancel more than 14 days before arrival, your initial payment will be refunded minus a $35 cancellation fee. At 14 days prior to check-in, the reservation becomes fully non-refundable and dates cannot be changed. All payments are automatically charged to the card on file. Your rental agreement, sent after booking, will outline all payment amounts and due dates.
Please note: An electronic rental agreement is required at the time of booking. To secure your reservation, the agreement must be signed and returned within 48 hours of receipt. The primary booking guest must be at least 25 years of age. Please be aware that our cancellation policy is strictly enforced with no exceptions. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.
Check-in details will be emailed three days before your arrival and will include the home’s address, access code, and helpful information about the property and the surrounding area. Early check-in is not available from June through October. When it is available during other times of the year, it can only be requested the night before or the morning of arrival and is never guaranteed. Full instructions regarding this process will be included in your check-in email.
